BSA Committees

Professional Development Committee

​​

Responsible for making sure our members have the resources they need to gain attractive skills for todays workforce. The commitee shall provide networking opportunities, inform the members of job opportunities, and hold professional development workshops. 
 

Fundraising Committee

 

Responsible for raising funds for BSA’s activities. As such, the duties of the committee shall include, but shall not be limited to: planning fundraising events, university resources, businesses and businesses

Civil Rights Committee

​​

Responsible for lobbying for and bringing awareness to issues or legislations affecting the black community. The committee shall organize students or other BSA members to participate in protests, demonstrations, discussions, Letters to the Editors/Elected officials, phone banks, press releases, or town hall meetings to keep the community engaged.
 

Community Service Committee

 

Responsible for developing and coordinating community service activities for BSA; and keep members informed of volunteer opportunities within the community. The committee seeks to identify disparagements in our community and utilize BSA’s resources to help.

Programs and Events Committee

 

Responsible for Black History Month and all other BSA events which take place in throughout the year. These events will display the essence of the fun, facts, and features of the African American culture. These events is not about black people celebrating black people, but about the education, entertainment, and enlightenment of the entire UHD community
 


 

PR Committee

​​

Responsible for the marketing, publicizing, hanging, and tearing down, and updating of all publicity for events/programs/workshops/etc. hosted or cohosted by the BSA.  The committee shall maximize publicity mediums such as, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Posters, Flyers, Orgsync, Youtube, BSA’s website, Email, Dateline, chalking, or meeting with other students and/or student organizations.

 

 Recruitment and Retention (R&R) Committee

 

Responsible for representing the BSA concerning all matters pertaining to the recruitment of new students. The Committee will execute programs either already in effect or newly implemented by Student Activities that promote recruitment. The committee will also be responsible for affairs of the Senior member regalia.
